On #WCW you can expect to have some real, honest I See You Moments! I See You® Candle and wishes to follow!

Today’s I See You® blog features Nikki Speer, founder of the non-profit Redefined Courage.

We all know social media has mixed emotions associated with it, but Nikki is one of the blessings we met through Instagram.

When I (Ashley) was researching what I would need for my bilateral mastectomy, I came across Nikki’s page for Redefined Courage

Redefined Courage provides women undergoing mastectomy surgery with a FREE Post Op Mastectomy Shirt!

Yes, you read that right!

FREE!

But Redefined Courage relies on the generosity and donations of others to make this happen.

The Hope Shirts are the SOFTEST SHIRTS EVER, that discreetly and comfortably hold drains for post mastectomy patients.

There are no words that appropriately convey how amazing her shirts are.

To be in the midst of the scariest chapter of my life and the unknown experience of a bilateral mastectomy, Nikki’s Hope Shirt was just that for me……………..HOPE!

Knowing that Nikki works tirelessly to provide HOPE to women across the nation, while honoring her mother’s legacy, we knew we had to introduce her to y’all!

We are so excited to feature her in today’s blog so you can learn more about Nikki & Redefined Courage.

Here’s a little more about Nikki in her own words!

What or who inspired you to create your non-profit? Tell us more!

The promise I made to my late mother, Virginia, is what has inspired me. She was at the end stages of metastatic Breast Cancer and just didn’t feel beautiful. I promised her I would design clothing to help her. She was never able to see all that we have done, but hundreds of women have worn the promise and that’s what keeps me going. My legacy is to always leave people/ things better than what they were.

Who saw you and supported your dreams?

So many people. My husband, Gerrod; my dad, Mike (or POP); my mother-in-law, Cherie; and my 3 amazing children, Colin, Savannah and Emma.

What song heals your soul?

“Clean” by Natalie Grant.  I don’t have a great past. I have hurt and wronged people and made some not so good decisions. When I hear this song it brings my soul joy + hope that I serve a God who knows me and yet still washes me clean, gives me dreams to inspire and make a difference, in spite of myself.

What does it mean to YOU to feel seen?

That others believe in the crazy vision that we have laid out at Redefined Courage. Not only believe in it but truly support it! Even people we don’t know.

What’s your go-to, self-care tip?

Prayer and long walks outside

Growing up, did you play an instrument or did you  participate in any organized sports, clubs and/or volunteer programs? How do you think these activities helped shape you as a person?

I played field  hockey from 6th grade until my 1st year in college, even going to England and Scotland to play with the US team. My sister and I used to sing at the local nursing home growing up and also sang the national anthem for our High school and College. Being a part of these particular things made me realize there is a big, big world out there. It can be fun and scary, but extremely rewarding! It taught me that giving is always better than receiving!

What advice would you give your younger self?

You are so beautiful, please hold your head up high and don’t give all of yourself to just anybody + everybody…You’re worth more than gold!

What’s 1 piece of advice you’d give someone thinking about starting their own company?

GO FOR IT!!!!

What does Breast Cancer Awareness Month mean to you?

I am incredibly grateful for the awareness of such a terrible disease. Being in the space I’m in with our non-profit, Redefined Courage I hope that we can do more than just bring awareness now that we know so much more about Breast Cancer, I pray we can bring hope and encouragement and a CURE!

Have you ever used our product, I See You® Candle? If so share that experience of what it was like to either receive or create an #iseeyoumoment!

Our family did receive candles and we used a few for a giveaway so others could celebrate, but we celebrated our son, Colin’s 16th birthday with one as well!

Nikki, WE SEE YOU!!

We honor your talent for creating something of beauty and inspiration for your mother to wear while she was in her Breast Cancer journey.

We appreciate your passion for finding a way to bring this to women across our nation.

We celebrate and recognize the gift that you gave to me (Ashley) and countless women going through this Breast Cancer journey.

Thank you for making a product that was an integral part of my recovery process.

It’s amazing how even the hardest moments in ones life can inspire the ultimate of legacy’s.

We hope you join us in celebrating this amazing woman!
